Kenwick Park

The Kenwick Park Estate near Louth in the Lincolnshire Wolds is a magnificent leisure and lifestyle complex set in 320 acres of woodland, parkland and manicured gardens. At its heart is a 34 bedroom Country House Hotel with its own pool and spa facility.

Within the last few months a new state of the art pool and spa facility has opened to replace the original pool hall which was devastated by a fire. The opportunity to extend and enhance this luxurious pool and spa as a design and build project was won by Grayfox Swimming pools.Working within a larger design team Grayfox had input into all key aspects of the entire facility and the result is one of the most striking and impressive pool and spa facilities in the UK.

The brief to Grayfox was to improve and enhance what the client had before but to ensure that the finished job reflected the hotel’s reputation for excellence. As the photographs show - mission accomplished!

This £5m refurbishment is contained within a stunning octagonal main pool hall with a light and contemporary timbered ceiling. In addition to the 20m x 8.5m deck level swimming pool with baby and learner section, there is a 3m spa pool which overlooks the grounds. This wet leisure facility also offers an external 5m x 3m hydrotherapy pool.

An essential part of the functionality of this superb facility is the installation of effective and energy efficient heating, dehumidification and ventilation.Grayfox appointed and collaborated with Heatstar Advanced Swimming Pool Climate Control Systems.Grayfox Pools have a long 10 year history with Heatstar and consider them to be the best in the market.

Steve Jones of Grayfox Swimming Pools explains that the plant room presented a big challenge for the team “we had to be very exact and creative in the plant room area as the requirement was to fit filtration and climate control systems for three wet leisure facilities within a space that was originally designed just for one”

Steve and his team rose to the challenge and solved the problem with steel framed structure to create a mezzanine level in the plant room to hold all the units. Then the units had to be craned in over the building before the roof was installed and dropped into the plant room space.Absolute accuracy was needed in this operation as the units had to drop in with just a 25mm clearance. The operation was helped enormously by the fact that Heatstar environmental control units are designed to offer a modular construction – this enabled them to be installed in four pieces.

The Heatstar unit chosen to handle all the Kenwick Park pool and spa environmental control requirements was a Heatstar Taurus HPXF 180 Super. In addition to the modular construction and the overall quality of Heatstar units Grayfox identified several other advantages.Steve Jones commented that “Heatstar units are easy to understand by the client, superbly energy efficient, value for money and they look good!”In terms of after-sales service Steve Jones also feels that Heatstar are in a class of their own “any issue that cannot be dealt with over the phone then the Heatstar team are there, usually within a day, and any problem is sorted”.

Grayfox Swimming Pool’s creativity and design and build excellence has produced an installation that has delighted the clients and totally fulfilled the brief.Steve Jones is also happy to say that Heatstar’s involvement through product quality and service has made a major contribution to the success of the project.
